Starting this month: We’ll be posting new monthly blog of real estate related stories from PEI & Canada where we’ll gather together a list of news from the past few weeks you might have missed. Hopefully you’ll learn a bit!
Our tight PEI housing market is finally attracting the attention of the rest of Canada. As we’ve been watching statistics for the past few years PEI has seen inventory shrink and prices rise at a far faster than usual level. This has been due to many factors including immigration and the economy doing well, but when put in perspective PEI is still an amazing bargain compared to Toronto or Vancouver…
A social media account worth following is definitely @EfficiencyPEI on Twitter and Facebook You’ll be kept up to date with the latest information on available government rebates and programs to save money such as solar & heat pump rebates and keep your home energy efficient! They’ve even recently partnered with the City of Charlottetown for an awareness campaign!
Speaking of government: This fall a federal election will happen in October, and housing policy will likely be front and centre. Everything from mortgage qualifications to affordable housing will be up for debate. Keep an eye on what the political parties are saying about those important issues.
The Tiny Home idea seems to be taking hold in a lot of places (especially expensive markets) as a way to edge into the housing market! And closer to home a lady on PEI has built her own. If you like the minimalist lifestyle or can’t afford a Vancouver condo. It’s not necessarily a bad idea. Amazon even sells them now.
And finally in case you missed the Real Estate Statistics for mid-Summer on PEI here they are!
See you next month!
