Memories Anyone?
There’s Google Maps for getting around, there’s a compass in our phones to find north and south and there are REALTORS® to turn one of our “ For Sale” houses into a home. Your home. It’s serious business. It’s also joyful, tearful, and mind blowing. A big part of moving is taken up by emotion and I remember myself going to buy my first house. A beat up farmhouse in the country and I was a new bride from Nova Scotia, ‘a city girl’. Luckily my REALTOR® was my brother in law who I eventually bought Parker Realty brokerage from. I asked him and my husband when the lawyer went out of the room where was the picture of my house in the legal description?? No picture I was told, just the description of the real estate ‘UNDER’ the house and the house went with it!
We spent 27 wonderful years in this house and on the grounds and raised our son, had one collie dog and 4 cats. Some ducks, geese, chickens, one cranky horse (I drew the line at pigs and cattle) completed the noisy menagerie. We totally renovated an 1844 farmhouse which was part of the original “Old MacDonald’s” farm, and planted oodles of trees and flowers. We had one of the original apple orchards still on the property that the ice storm of 1918 had not killed off. We grew up a lot in that house, as a newly wed couple and as a family and I would not trade any of those memories over those 27 years for anything in the world. It was hard to leave but the new family loves it and even got two collies for themselves as they could not picture the property without collies!
We Canadians love our homes. We tie it to not only our financial well-being but also to our personal well-being. Let’s start some making memories. You know where to find us. We’re the Parker family of REALTORS®.
